Bund Linings replacement at Takeda
Takeda is a Japanese global pharmaceutical company. Larsen were recently contracted to replace Bund linings at the Grangecastle manufacturing facility in Dublin .This is Takeda's worldwide Centre for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) manufacturing, development and technical support . The remedial works to Takeda’s large Bund store and tank farm and covings were carried out during a two week shutdown; a temporary weatherproof structure was erected over the entire tank farm to ensure weather did not disrupt the programme. Early Morning and Late shifts were worked by the Larsen team to meet the demanding programme and deadline. Health and Safety was paramount in an EX rated area as the project included lining works to over 300sqm including Hydrochloric and Caustic Bunds. Larsen undertook preparation, by high pressure water blasting of the existing Bund walls, floors and plinths. Concrete repair and crack injection works to tank farm included breaking out defective boast concrete and making good with application of Remmers Betofix and Remmers Epoxy Injection resin. The chemical resistant lining was the Remmers SD1 Silicate mortar system. The Bund Store joints were also repaired with works including: setting up a spill containment sock, removal of existing join sealant, cleaning and priming, and application of a polyurethane joint sealant.
