Graham Connaughton of O’Mahony Pike Architecture was the lead designer on the conversion of a listed Gasometer into a block of high specification, residential apartments. The development consisted of a large internal court yard incorporating the seven storey building with a circular landing, servicing own door apartments. The specification included large areas of common balconies to be floored with a decorative slip resistant finish. Larsen Contracts proposed a fast curing, MMA decorative screed incorporating a buff-coloured, bauxite aggregate encapsulated in a clear resin sealer. This finish was carried through into the communal glass clad stair cores to provide a bright, airy living environment. The system complemented the modern design while still meeting the requirements for slip resistance in a residential development .
