Project Details

  • Location: Terminal One, Dublin Airport
  • Main Contractor: Larsen Contracts Ltd
  • Subcontractor: Larsen Water Management Ltd
  • Consultant: Nicholas O'Dwyer Consulting Engineers
  • Application: Concrete Repair

With millions of travellers annually, Dublin Airport Authority must meet the needs of all their customers. Drinking water is needed for a multitude of round the clock operations.

Hidden underground in the car park of Terminal One is a huge service reservoir. This meets the daily needs of all airport staff and passengers.

Larsen Contracts were selected to carry out the internal refurbishment of the twin cells reinforced concrete reservoir. DAA operations closed one cell which was taken out of service, cleaned and high pressure water jetted to allow a detailed inspection to determine the scope of the works.

All expansion and construction joints were deemed to have passed their design life and were replaced with an epoxy bonded ,hypalon strip ,”Sikadur Combiflex”. There were localised hand placed concrete repairs and the entire internal concrete surface was treated with a WBA approved, cementitious coating, “Sika Top 107 Sea”l.

All internal ladders were replaced with new stainless steel safety ladders. Internal lighting and electric depth loggers were also installed to allow remote monitoring.
