Case Study – Pritchitt Foods

Project Details

  • Client: Pritchitt Foods (Lakeland Dairies Group)
  • Main Contractor: Larsen Contracts Ltd
  • Specialist Contractor: Larsen Foundations Ltd
  • Scope of Work: Existing slab removal, installation of piles, drainage, new slab and polyurethane screed topping

Pritchitt Foods are one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of high quality long life dairy and dairy related products.

As part of the client’s continued development within their manufacturing facility, they required the installation of two new silos each having a load bearing of 100 tonne.

The client appointed Larsen Contracts Ltd to carry out the civil works up to and including the new slab. Steel frame and silo installation was undertaken by the client after Larsen Contracts handed over the work area. The works were carried out within an environmentally contained area of the live manufacturing plant in a manner so as not to impinge on the client’s production outputs. The works were carried out over a 14 day consecutive programme.

The scope of work was to carry out the removal of the existing slab, design and install new piles and associated reinforced pile caps, install a new reinforced concrete slab incorporating drainage channels, manholes and connections and apply a new polyurethane screed topping.

The challenging elements of the project were time, cost guarantee and environmental constraints working within the live production facility.

Larsen Contracts were delighted to be involved with Pritchitt Foods on their capital works programme.
