Newcastle RNLI Lifeboat station.
Since application of the Sika Poxitar F to the keelway of the slipway at Newcastle Lifeboat Station there has been a marked improvement in the situation during recovery of the lifeboat. Prior to the works being carried out the lifeboat would become stuck to the keelway resulting in loads being transferred through the winch wire and winch that on some occasions exceeded the design capacity of the winch and winch wire. The new coating has dramatically improved the situation dramatically and the lifeboat recovery on to the slipway is now a smooth process. The coating requires some maintenance as it is expected to wear due to a 13 ton boat running over it. This maintenance can be conducted locally.
The product selected by Larsen for the Slipway was a heavy duty Coating: Sika Poxitar F which is an Epoxy-anthracene oil-combination. Suitable for external coating of buried and submerged structures, e.g. sewage systems, chemical industry etc. Also suitable where application onto damp concrete is inevitable
